A Word About Strunal Basses

Strunal's upright double basses are among the best-known in the world. With reasonable care, a Strunal bass will perform beautifully for decades. Venerable European Craftsmanship and Sound

Since 1922, Strunal has been making some of the world's most revered bowed string instruments. Located in Luby, Czech Republic, just a few steps from Germany, Strunal is steeped in the violin-making history and traditions of the region. Strunal has had a continuous partnership with the 147 year old Luby School of Violin Making since 1922, applying tried and true European methods and techniques to every instrument in Strunal's repertoire. Indeed, dozens of craftspeople at Strunal today represent the second and third generations of their families who have dedicated their careers there. Because of their experience and close attention to the myriad details of instrument making, every Strunal instrument possesses the unmistakable European Strunal sound, standing ready for generations of faithful service.
